Walk through a small New England Woodland

This morning, Mark and I took a walk through the Marblehead Neck Wildlife Sanctuary looking for early spring migrants. While the birding was slow, we did enjoy seeing spring wildflowers - some of which were in peak bloom:

Wood Anemone (Anemone quinquefolia) Also known as Wind Flower.

Periwinkle (Vinca minor). Also known as Myrtle.

Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum). Also called Dogtooth Violet.

Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus).

Fiddleheads

Long Beech Fern (Phegopteris connectilis). Just unfurling.
