After a very long, cold, and snowy winter - there is nothing finer than seeing, smelling, and planting the first flowers of Spring!

The Pink House

The Pink House is located on Plum Island Turnpike in Newbury, MA and is one of my favorite houses.  It is also a favorite spot for Snowy Owls to rest on cold winter days - many Snowy Owls have been seen sitting on the rooftop of The Pink House over the years!  One of these days, I will have my camera with me to capture this scene but until then I will enjoy the rustic beauty of The Pink House each time I travel to and from Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.

 

 

  

Owling at Cumberland Farms

Cumberland Farms (or Cumbies) is located south of Boston and is a wonderful place to bird any time of year.  This afternoon a few friends and I went to look for Short-eared owls.  We saw at least six owls hunting the fields as well as Northern harriers, geese, ducks, and a beautiful sunset!  Cumbies is a nominated Important Bird Area.

 

A Snow Path Less Traveled

Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect place to hike on a snowy afternoon.
